The Oregon State University Extension Service in partnership with Umpqua Soil & Water Conservation District will offer a fruit tree pruning workshop on Saturday, January 17th.
The event will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Elkton Community Education Center on Highway 38 in Elkton.
Designed for everyone from backyard growers to small-scale orchardists, the workshop will cover proper techniques to improve tree health, boost fruit production and shape trees for long-term success. Topics will include:
*When and why to prune in winter
*Tools and safety
*Pruning strategies for apples, pears, cherries, and plums
There will be live demonstrations plus a question-and-answer segment
