Giving Machines will remain at Valley River Center in Eugene, through this Sunday.
The effort offers the community an innovative, hands-on way to support local nonprofits. Last year, more than $60,000 in donations was raised.
Each dollar donated in the machines goes to support non-profit organizations in Lane, Linn, Benton and Douglas counties:
The Giving Machines accept debit and credit cards and mobile payments such as Apple Pay. They are located near Center Court at Valley River Center.
In recent days:
*Almost 80 children’s books have been purchased for United Community Action Network
*Almost 50 small container garden kits have been purchased for Linn Benton Food Share
Over 70 sewing business kits have been purchased for Mentors International
*Over 80 weeks of diapers have been purchased for Community Sharing
*Over 450 school menstrual kits have been purchased for Days for Girls
Originally launched in 2017, this holiday season the machines are in over 131 cities on 5 continents in 21 countries.
Giving Machines are overseen by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which sponsors the Light of the World initiative. The organization covers all operating costs so that 100 percent of donations go to the designated charities.
