Roseburg Police jailed a man after a reported trespass incident on Friday.
An RPD report said just before 8:00 p.m. staff at Tire Monkey, in the 2600 block of Northeast Stephens Street, found that 36-year-old James Daniels had allegedly broken into their property in an attempt to steal a tire. Staff held Daniels down until officers arrived and took him into custody without further incident.
Prior to entering the business, the suspect reportedly trespassed onto railroad property in order to get to Tire Monkey’s property. Daniels allegedly admitted to using a tool to tamper and damage the electric box belonging to Pacific Power to cut the power to the store to aid his attempt to steal a tire.
Daniels was charged with first-degree counts of criminal mischief and criminal trespass, possession of a burglary tool, second-degree criminal trespass and for warrants. He was detained on $15,000 bail.
