Roseburg Police cited a man for prohibited outdoor burning early Monday.

An RPD report said just after 6:00 a.m. officers observed a tarp on fire in the parking lot adjacent to a building in the 800 block of Southeast Stephens Street. A 47-year-old man came out of the tent, and the fire was extinguished. The man said he was burning cooking oil in a tin can, and fell asleep, waking up to the fire.

The man was released after the citation was issued.
