DOUGLAS COUNTY CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY IS NOVEMBER 30TH

November 30, 2025 3:40 a.m.

Douglas County Commissioners Tim Freeman, Tom Kress and Chris Boice are excited to officially kick off the holiday season with the lighting of the 42nd annual Douglas County Christmas Tree on Sunday November 30th at 6:00 p.m. on the front lawn of the courthouse.

A county release said the family-friendly event is free and open to kids of all ages. The lights on the tree and on the courthouse will be on display throughout the holiday season.

The event represents a longstanding collaboration between the Board of Commissioners, City of Roseburg, and First Christian Church. The evening’s festivities include a family-oriented program with music presented by the Hucrest Community Choir under the direction of Colin Hurowitz, the reading of the traditional Christmas story, tree lighting, and a visit from Santa Claus. Across the street, First Christian Church and Journey Church will present a live nativity scene. The hospitality tent, sponsored by First Christian Church and the Board of Commissioners will feature hot cocoa, coffee and cookies served by the Miss Douglas County Scholarship program.

For those not able to attend in-person, the tree lighting ceremony will be live-streamed on the county government Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DouglasCountyeGovernment
