Roseburg Police jailed a man in an alleged fraud case on Friday night.
An RPD report said on Friday afternoon officers were notified that fraudulent checks were being cashed or attempted to being cashed at multiple businesses around the Roseburg area. The suspect, 43-year-old Dee Thomas of Myrtle Creek reportedly cashed a fraudulent check for $3,000 and received funds in the form of both cash and money deposited onto multiple debit cards at a business in the 700 block of Northeast Stephens Street. Thomas was unsuccessful after a store in the 900 block of Northwest Garden Valley Boulevard was made aware that the check was likely fraudulent.
Thomas was located at approximately 11:40 p.m. Friday evening and admitted to the incidents. He was found to be in possession of about .64 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Thomas was charged with first-degree theft, attempted first-degree theft, two counts each of first-degree forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and computer crime. He was cited for unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Thomas was detained without bail.
