Sutherlin Police jailed a man for a city ordination violation on Monday night.

An SPD report said at 11:30 p.m. 50-year-old Cody Phelps was detained for multiple counts of failing to report as a sex offender. Phelps was located in the 1000 block of East Central Avenue. During a search for weapons and means of escape, officers reportedly located a methamphetamine pipe with a baggy of meth inside Phelp’s pocket.

He was charged with three counts of failure to report as a sex offender and for the warrant. Bail was set at $20,000.
