A Eugene man was jailed for unauthorized entry to a motor vehicle and other charges on Friday afternoon.
An Oregon State Police report said at 2:45 p.m. a motorist observed a male inside a friend’s sedan on Interstate 5 northbound near the Winchester exit. The caller said she knew the vehicle had mechanical issues and had been parked. The owner contacted law enforcement and provided a description of the male. He was observed a short time later on a nearby road.
The man, identified as 56-year-old Eric Curran, admitted to being inside the vehicle and had retrieved six bags of Halloween candy, powder donuts, and a dollar bill. Curran was placed into custody. He was also charged with second-degree criminal trespass and for five misdemeanor warrants. Curran was detained without bail and was released on Sunday.
