Roseburg Police have released information following a robbery on Thursday night.
An RPD report said at 10:45 p.m. officers responded to the Umpqua Valley Arts Center in the 1600 block of West Harvard Avenue after a victim claimed that he had been robbed at knife point. The victim described the suspect as a male in his 30s or 40s with brown hair, light facial hair, wearing a brown jacket and blue pants.
Video footage was later reviewed, and officers identified the suspect as 41-year-old Raul Rosario. Friday morning, Rosario was located at the entrance of Fir Grove Elementary School at approximately 9:30 a.m. The suspect was holding a brick and was non-compliant with officer’s commands. Ultimately, officers deployed a taser twice, causing Rosario to fall to the ground.
The suspect reportedly continued to resist officers but was ultimately detained in handcuffs. During the incident, an officer sustained an injury and was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment.
Rosario was charged with first-degree robbery, third-degree theft, unlawful use of a weapon, assaulting a public safety officer, three counts of menacing, and resisting arrest. He was detained without bail.
