Roseburg Police jailed a man for a reported assault incident on Saturday night.
An RPD report said at 8:20 p.m. while roughhousing together, a juvenile male asked the suspect, a 40-year-old family member, to stop as he was tickling his head. The incident occurred at a home in the 2100 block of Northeast Vine Street. When the man did not stop, the juvenile allegedly slapped the man’s head three times, then backed off and sat on his bed. The man claimed the slap hurt, so he punched at the juvenile in retaliation.
The juvenile blocked some of the punches, but one punch connected to his left temple, causing a bump and a bruise that had slight discoloration to it already. The juvenile said the punch knocked the wind out of him and was still tender to the touch. The man admitted to trying to punch the juvenile but thought the juvenile had blocked all the punches.
The man was charged with fourth-degree felony assault, and first-degree criminal mistreatment. He was detained without bail.
