Roseburg Police cited two people for prohibited camping early Thursday morning.

An RPD report said just before 4:30 a.m. while conducting a security check under the walkway bridge located near the intersection of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, officers contacted a 35-year-old man and a 41-year-old man who were both camping. The camp was in a restricted area and had a small makeshift kitchen setup with blankets and tarps attached to make a wall for a room.

The camp violated the time and manner provisions of the city’s prohibited camping guidelines. The younger man had no previous convictions so was cited for a violation. The older man was released after being cited for a criminal count of the charge, due to an illness.
