Make a Difference Day is a nationally recognized day of service that is held on the fourth Saturday of every October. The Make A Difference Day – Douglas County planning committee’s goal is to promote volunteerism throughout the county.

Volunteers are needed for over a dozen projects. The event’s primary sponsors include the United Community Action Network, Thrive Umpqua, Greater Douglas United Way, Roseburg Public Schools, Sunrise Enterprises, JustServe and The Salvation Army.

Make a Difference Day – Douglas County’s mission is to build support and opportunity for volunteers throughout the county, strengthening the community and making the area a healthier and safer place to live, work and play.

Planning committee member and founder of the event Tim Juett said, “The outpouring of support and volunteerism that results from this annual day of service is truly inspiring”. Juett said, “We encourage everyone to sign up for a project this year and experience the joy of service to others”.

Volunteers can choose a project to work on during a three-hour shift from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on October 25th. Groups from businesses and service organizations are also encouraged to participate and can sign up as teams.
