UNF removes public use restrictions

Sept. 26, 2025 10:22 a.m.

The Umpqua National Forest has removed Public Use Restrictions as of Friday morning.

Recent rainfall and cooler temperatures have allowed forest management to lift the restrictions and lower the fire danger level to “moderate.”

The Industrial Fire Precaution Level will move to level 1 as of 12:01 a.m. Monday.

With the Public Use Restrictions lifted, there are no longer restrictions on campfires, stoves, smoking, generators, motorized vehicles, or firewood cutting. Forest staff reminder the public that it is still important to never leave a campfire unattended and to completely extinguish it, even with reduced fire danger.

Industrial Fire Precaution Level 1 means that all fire precaution requirements are in effect, and a fire watch is required.
