A Roseburg man was jailed following a standoff on Wednesday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:20 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of Shadow Ranch Lane, just north of Roseburg, for a welfare check on a female resident. It was reported that 49-year-old Ryan Ferguson was in the residence in violation of an active restraining order. Records confirmed that the order was active, prohibiting Ferguson from contacting or being at the listed residence or having contact with the woman.
Ferguson was reportedly acting erratic and the woman locked herself in her bedroom to stay safely away from the suspect. At one point, Ferguson allegedly forced the door open and refused to leave the victim alone.
Deputies were able to get the woman safely out of the house.
Ferguson remained in the house, repeatedly calling 911 yelling profanities and then barricaded himself in the home. He allegedly threatened and waved a knife at deputies, threw household items, and broke a window in the woman’s house. The Tactical Response Team was activated due to the escalation of the situation. After lengthy negotiations failed, chemical munitions were eventually deployed and the team made entry to take Ferguson into custody. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted injuries, before being taken to jail.
Ferguson was charged with violation of a restraining order, second-degree criminal mischief, improper use of 911 and for probation violations. The man was detained without bail.
