There was a two-vehicle accident in the Melrose area on Sunday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:55 p.m. an SUV was heading northbound on Cleveland Hill Road near the intersection with Monte Vista Lane intending to turn into a driveway. A sedan was going southbound at 60 to 65 miles per hour and planning to go straight. The first driver stopped momentarily but did not see the second vehicle and turned in front of it.
The second driver slowed as much as possible and continued straight. A collision occurred in the southbound lane. None of the occupants were injured. Both vehicles had full airbag deployment and were disabled. They were towed from the scene.
The driver who caused the crash, a 22-year-old from Sutherlin, was cited for making a dangerous left turn.
