ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR WARRANTS, ESCAPE

Roseburg Police jailed a man for warrants and other charges following an incident during the afternoon commute on Thursday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 5:30 p.m. officers contacted 41-year-old Kirk Opheim of Corvallis in the 1000 block of West Harvard Avenue. Opheim allegedly resisted arrest and fled from officers on foot. He reportedly ran into traffic and was struck by a vehicle on Harvard Avenue. Traffic in the area was halted for a time as law enforcement dealt with the situation.

Opheim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for medical evaluation. He was later cleared and was transported to corrections.

Opheim was detained on 6 warrants and was also charged with third-degree escape, resisting arrest, and second-degree disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $60,000.
