SUTHERLIN POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWING ALLEGED ASSAULT INCIDENT

Sutherlin Police jailed a man following an alleged assault incident on Wednesday.

An SPD report said at 7:50 a.m. 44-year-old Josef Damon and a victim were in a verbal altercation in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue. The suspect was on foot while the victim was in his vehicle in the roadway.

Damon reportedly kicked the victim’s vehicle, which prompted the victim to step out of his vehicle. at which point he was allegedly punched by Damon. The two continued to physically fight until the victim left and called law enforcement. Damon reportedly became belligerent while being taken into custody but was ultimately transported to corrections.

Damon was charged with fourth-degree assault, second-degree disorderly conduct, third-degree criminal mischief and harassment. He was detained without bail.
