Firefighters on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest are working towards full suppression on 32 active lightning-caused fires.

An RRSNF update said most of these fires are in the High Cascades Ranger District, with some on the Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District. 16 of these fires have now been fully contained or controlled. There are still 12 outstanding smoke reports that are unconfirmed. The forest received nearly 200 new lightning strikes on Tuesday afternoon, with more anticipated.

Aerial and ground reconnaissance are continuing to locate and respond to any new fire starts. Hand crews, engines, heavy equipment, falling modules, water tenders and a variety of fixed and rotor wing aircraft are working toward full suppression on all active fire incidents.
