Firefighters on the Rogue-River Siskiyou National Forest have responded to 23 active lightning-caused fires since storms began moving through the area on Sunday.

An RRSNF update said ten of these fires are now in contained or controlled status. Resources have also responded to an additional 18 reports of smoke and will continue to perform air and ground reconnaissance to located these and any other new fires after more than 1,700 lightning strikes impacted the forest area over the last three days.
