Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association dealt with two small fires on Monday.
A DFPA social media post said there were a few lightning strikes on DFPA protected lands. The first fire was estimated at 0.01 of an acre and was in timber about 13.5 miles northeast of Oakland. Fire activity was quickly knocked down. By 1:30 p.m. the fire had been 100 percent trailed with 100 percent mop-up complete.
At 3:30 p.m. DFPA responded to an estimated 1/10th of an acre fire, which appeared to be a single struck tree, approximately 12.5 miles northeast of Idleyld Park. That fire had grown to an estimated 0.25 of an acre by 4:30 p.m. DFPA’s air and ground resources engaged in an aggressive initial attack. The ground fire was 100 percent mopped up by 6:30 p.m. 3 trees burned in the fire.
Fire danger remains extreme on land protected by the DFPA. Complete fire season information is at: www.dfpa.net
