A residential structure in west Roseburg sustained significant structural, smoke and water damage in a fire early Sunday morning.
Fire Chief Tyler Christopherson from the Roseburg Fire Department said at 6:15 a.m. firefighters responded to the fire in the 500 block of West Harrison Street, with smoke showing from outside the structure. Christopherson said firefighters responded to find a single-family residential structure with heavy black smoke coming from all eaves of the home, with flames visible on the exterior portion of the residence.

Firefighters conducted a primary search, and the home was found to be vacant; It was determined that no residents currently resided at the property. Christopherson said firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and conducted overhaul of the structure.
A fire investigator responded to the scene of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Christopherson said eighteen firefighters assisted with firefighting operations. Other agencies helping with the incident included Central Douglas Fire & Rescue, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Avista Utilities and Pacific Power.
