HEAT ADVISORY EXTENDED 1:00 P.M. FRIDAY THROUGH 8:00 P.M. SUNDAY

A Heat Advisory has been extended from 1:00 pm. Friday through 8:00 p.m. Sunday for much of the local area.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said hot conditions with high temperatures of 95 to 104 degrees are expected. Overnight low temperatures will range from 55 to 65 degrees.

Forecasters in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that there is  a 60 to 70 percent chance of highs reaching the triple digits Friday and Saturday in Roseburg. The chance of triple digits is 40 percent Sunday through Tuesday.

The Advisory area includes the valleys of central and eastern Douglas County. This applies to Roseburg, Camas Valley, Elkton, Drain, Sutherlin, Glendale, Riddle, Canyonville, Tiller and Toketee Falls.

Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
