A Heat Advisory is in effect from Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford said dangerously hot temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees are expected.
The Advisory area is for central Douglas County and its eastern foothills, the south- central Oregon Cascades and the Klamath Basin.
Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat related illnesses.
Residents should:
*Stay cool, stay hydrated and stay informed
*Drink plenty of fluids and check up on relatives and neighbors
*Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
*Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take actions when symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke are seen.
