The Scholfield Fire near Reedsport remains at 50 acres and is 15 percent contained as of Friday evening.

An update from the Coos Forest Protective Association said firefighters are in aggressive mop-op operations and have secured 60 feet of cold black around the entire fire. Interior pockets will continue to burn for the next few days, posing no concern to current fire lines. Smoke from these interior pockets may be visible to the public.
