Covering Coastal Douglas County:

Crews with the Coos Forest Protective Association and other agencies have kept the Scholfield Ridge Fire at approximately 50 acres.

The fire is 4.5 miles southeast of Reedsport. Firefighters have been building and holding lines around the fire, despite hot, steep terrain. With the help of additional retardant drops on Wednesday, firefighters have been able to solidify the line around 50 percent of the fire’s perimeter. Firefighters are working on holding and improving existing lines and building into them with a goal of completing as much of the perimeter as possible.

The cause of the Scholfield Ridge Fire remains under investigation.
