ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWING TRAFFIC STOP. ELUDING ON FOOT

Roseburg Police jailed a man following a traffic stop on Sunday afternoon.

An RPD report said at approximately 5:40 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of West Harvard Avenue after witnessing traffic violation. During the stop, the 40-year-old from Riddle reportedly gave a false name, before fleeing from the vehicle on foot. The man was located behind a building on the Roseburg High School campus.

Raymond Nelson admitted to giving a false name to avoid arrest and returned with a warrant. The warrant was confirmed, and the man was taken into custody. Nelson was charged with attempting to elude a police officer on foot, third-degree escape, giving false information to a police officer and for the warrant. Bail was set at $18,750.
