ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWING ASSAULT INCIDENT

Roseburg Police jailed a man following an assault incident on Friday.

An RPD report said at 6:45 a.m. a 48-year-old allegedly instigated a fight with a 33-year-old man in Deer Creek Park, in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street. That resulting in the younger man punching the older man to get him to leave him alone.

After the two separated, the older man collapsed and suffered a medical event. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center in critical condition, with initial results supporting cardiac arrest. As of mid-day Monday, the man is listed in good condition, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The 33-year-old was charged with multiple parole violations and was detained without bail.
