August 10, 2025 5:30 p.m.

A Roseburg woman died, and the second driver was injured in a two-vehicle head-on crash on Friday morning.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly after 7:30 a.m., 911 dispatchers began receiving calls regarding the wreck on Garden Valley Road near Ridgewood Drive, northwest of Roseburg. Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said deputies, along with Central Douglas Fire & Rescue and Umpqua Valley Ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

O’Dell said the investigation revealed that a sedan was traveling eastbound on Garden Valley Road when it suddenly steered sharply into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a westbound pickup.

O’Dell said the operator of the sedan, 23-year-old Kaylie Ann York of Roseburg, was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the pickup, 66-year-old Frank Edward Pollak was seriously injured and transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene and next of kin were notified.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
