The Douglas Forest Protective Association and contract crews have made significant progress on the estimated 20-acre Burnt Mountain Fire, north of Tenmile, and have issued the final update.
DFPA Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said the fire began on Friday afternoon. As of Saturday evening, mop-up of 50-100 feet on both the north and east sides was complete. Progress continues on the south flank.
Pope said crews will remain on the fire until 100 percent mop-up is achieved and the area is turned over to patrol status.
