STATE POLICE JAIL TWO ON DRUG CHARGES FOLLOWING DISTURBANCE

Troopers with Oregon State Police jailed two people following a disturbance along Interstate 5 on Wednesday afternoon.

An OSP report said at 12:50 p.m. troopers responded to the northbound lanes of the freeway, approximately three miles north of Glendale. The suspects left the scene in a pickup, and a traffic stop was conducted. During the investigation, it was discovered that both people were in possession of a large quantity of suspected fentanyl. A firearm was seized from the vehicle, and it was discovered that the male had a felony criminal history.

Also, during the investigation, indicators of impairment were observed in the male and the female and both reportedly admitted to driving prior to being stopped.

43-year-old Merril Lesly was charged with unlawful possession and distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance, being a felon in possession of a firearm and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He was detained on $5,000 bail.

37-year-old Amber Lesly was charged with unlawful possession and distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance and driving under the influence of intoxicants. She was held on $3,000 bail.

Both people were released on Thursday.
