One driver was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon.
An Oregon State Police report said shortly before 4:00 p.m. a trooper and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to Highway 42, near milepost 50, west of Camas Valley after a caller said there had been a multi-vehicle wreck.
The driver of a pickup was eastbound when he fell asleep and his vehicle drifted across the lane of travel and sideswiped another pickup which was pulling a horse trailer. The vehicle then left the highway, struck the dirt embankment and rolled onto its driver’s side.
The driver was able to self-extricate and was transported by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center. He is listed in stable condition at last check, according to a hospital spokesperson. The driver of the second pickup and the horse trailer suffered minor injuries and was treated and released on the scene. The two horses in the trailer had minor scrapes on their faces.
Towing companies recovered the vehicles.
