REEDSPORT TEEN CITED FOLLOWING SINGLE VEHICLE CRASH

A Reedsport teen was cited following a single-vehicle crash on Sunday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly after 4:00 p.m. the 17-yaer-old male who had just gotten his vehicle on Saturday, was showing a passenger how it drives, by going up and down Lower Smith River Road in the Reedsport area. On the way down the road, the vehicle hit gravel on the side at an estimated 70 miles per hour. The sedan slid sideways across the lanes of traffic and went onto the opposite shoulder.

The driver then centerpunched a tree with the passenger side front door where the passenger was sitting, unrestrained. The passenger, also a juvenile, was ultimately transported to a hospital for his injuries. The driver was cited for careless driving and driving uninsured. He declined medical services.  The vehicle was towed from the scene.
