Roseburg Police jailed a man following a reported assault incident on Tuesday.

An RPD report said at 2:15 p.m. two women were allegedly involved in a physical fight in the street in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street. The first woman’s boyfriend reportedly grabbed onto the second woman to break up the fight. A second man, the husband of the second woman, swung one punch and allegedly struck the other man on the side of the head.

The second man was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull and two separate brain bleeds.

The suspect, a 23-year-old, was charged with second degree assault and was detained without bail.
