Roseburg Police jailed a man after he reportedly attempted to elude an officer during a traffic stop on Monday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 1:40 p.m. an officer tried to stop a vehicle for speeding in the 500 block of Southeast Stephens Street. The 52-year-old driver continued driving, eventually getting onto Interstate 5. The pursuit was terminated due to the suspect’s driving. The vehicle was later located by deputies in the 1900 block of Southeast Stephens.

The driver was eventually located in the area and was taken into custody. He was charged with attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, and reckless driving. The man was cited for driving while suspended-misdemeanor, driving uninsured and speeding. He was detained without bail.
