Troopers with the Oregon State Police jailed a man following a reported menacing incident on Sunday afternoon.

An OSP report said just before 5:00 p.m. troopers were dispatched to Interstate 5 northbound in the Weaver Road area after a caller said there had been a past domestic violence incident. The reporting party stated that a family member was a passenger in a semi-truck and traveling with a man who had physically assaulted her two days earlier while they were in California. After multiple attempts by the reporting party to convince the woman to contact 911, the caller finally did it herself.

Shortly after this, the male pulled his semi into the truck stop off exit 119. Troopers located the 50-year-old male driver and the female passenger. The female had multiple bruises to her face, head, neck and arms. She had two black eyes, and her face appeared slightly swollen. The woman said she was fearful the man was going to unexpectedly snap and assault her again.

The male denied any involvement and claimed the woman had been drinking, was on medications and had mental issues. Both admitted they were in an intimate relationship.

The man was charged with menacing and was detained without bail. He was released on Monday. The female was provided services by medical providers and advocates.
