July 16, 2025 9:30 a.m.

With a wind-shift, drift smoke has moved over the Douglas District.

Douglas Forest Protective Association Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said currently there are not any active fires on lands protected by the DFPA. Pope said a few fires contributing to the drift smoke are located south of the district, in either Klamath County or in northern California. The Cram Fire near Madras is now contributing to the drift smoke, as well.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center, there are currently 19 large incidents in the region. That includes Oregon, Washington, and California. 7 large fires are being reported in Oregon with 6 in Washington and 6 in California. NIFC data shows 108 large fires in the United States, with the largest number, 65, happening in Alaska.
