A woman was taken to the hospital, and a man was arrested for weapons violations following a single vehicle crash on Saturday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report released Tuesday said just after 7:00 p.m. the wreck was reported in the 9000 block of Tiller Trail Highway in the Canyonville area. Firefighters advised that the man associated with the accident became angry and was carrying a large quantity of Katana swords.
The deputy arrived at the scene and the suspect put the swords down and came to speak to the deputy. He claimed a vehicle came around the corner in the wrong lane of travel. He said the woman was driving the vehicle and swerved off the road to avoid a head-on collision. The female was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center. She called later and had the same account regarding the accident. She advised that she had lower back and neck pain.
During the investigation, the deputy found that the man was a convicted felon. He was in possession of several swords and large knives. He was identified as 40-year-old Clarence Waite, a transient from the Klamath Falls area. Waite was charged with seven counts of being a felon in possession of a restricted weapon. Bail was set at $5,000.
