In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:
It’s an evening of contemporary jazz at Music on the Half Shell, Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. at the Nichols Band Shell in Roseburg’s Stewart Park.
Special EFX is a Grammy nominated supergroup with 34 combined albums, 7 Billboard #1 hits and decades of domestic and international touring. Appearing as the Special EFX All-Stars, Tuesday’s roster has a mix of renowned musicians and vocalists, all with extensive credits to their name. A recent single, “Cool Summer” reached the #1 spot on the Billboard charts in 2024.
Half Shell is in its 33rd year of providing diverse music from around the world. Thanks to dozens of sponsors, the shows are free to the public. Buckets are passed during intermission to let concert goers contribute as well. Food trucks and vendors will have a variety of dinner items. Those attending can bring their own meal as well, along with wine or beer. Blankets can be put out ahead of time.
Special EFX band leader Chiela Munucci talked about their music on Inside Douglas County Monday on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com
