DFPA CREWS DEAL WITH EVENING FIRES TUESDAY

Crews with the Douglas Forest Protective Association dealt with two fires in the northern portion of their district on Tuesday night.

DFPA Acting Public Information Officer Nic Freeman said the Alligator Rock Fire was reported in the Kellog area around 10:00 p.m. Firefighters from DFPA. Kellog Rural Fire Department, Elkton Rural Fire Department, and North Douglas Fire and EMS responded to a natural cover fire on Highway 138 West near mile post 9. Freeman said on arrival, the fire was found to be burning on private industrial land in a reproduction unit. DFPA responded with two engines and with the help of the rural fire departments the fire is 100 percent lined with handline and is 100 percent mopped up. The final fire size is two acres. The fire was human caused and is under investigation.

Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. crews with DFPA responded to the Cooper Creek Fire near the boat ramp at Cooper Creek Reservoir. The fire was found to be less than one-tenth of an acre. It is mopped up and trailed. The fire was human caused.

Freeman said fire season is in effect in the Douglas District which brings restrictions. These include no campfires, debris burning, charcoal fires, cooking fires and warming fires except at designated sites. Public use restrictions are posted at www.dfpa.net
