ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN FOR ALELGED ASSAULT INCIDENT AT A BUSINESS

Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged assault incident at a business on Sunday night.

An RPD report said at approximately 8:10 p.m. officers responded to a business in the 2600 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard regarding a physical altercation. Upon arrival, officers learned that 34-year-old Joshua Norton was reportedly involved in a physical altercation with a victim over a disagreement.

During the fight, Norton allegedly threw the victim to the ground and punched him in the face five times, rendering him unconscious. Officers later reviewed the video footage, which displayed Norton as the aggressor.

The victim was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for medial treatment. The man suffered a broken nose, two missing teeth, a possible fractured jaw, and several other injuries. Norton was taken into custody and transported to corrections. While there, officers learned the man had taken one of the victim’s teeth after the altercation. Norton was charged second-degree counts of assault. theft, and disorderly conduct and for harassment. He was detained without bail.
