Roseburg Police cited a man after his vehicle collided with a telephone poll on Monday night.

An RPD report said at approximately 8:50 p.m. officers contacted 24-year-old Jakob Allen regarding the wreck in the 2600 block of West Harvard Avenue. Allen was heading westbound in his SUV when his phone fell onto the floorboard. While the man was reaching for his phone, he needed to turn right on West Broccoli Street. As he negotiated the turn, Allen was reportedly distracted by retrieving his phone, and his vehicle collided with the pole that stood on the corner sidewalk.

Allen was cited for driving while suspended, careless driving, driving uninsured, failure of a previous violator to file and failure to install an ignition interlock device. He was then released. A towing company retrieved the vehicle while Pacific Power arrived to assess the damage to the power pole.
