Sutherlin Police jailed a man Tuesday night on charges for a hit and run incident which took place the evening before.

An SPD report said on Monday shortly before 10:30 p.m. the 40-year-old was allegedly driving a pickup recklessly through the parking lot shared by two businesses in the 1300 block of West Central Avenue. His vehicle reportedly hit an SUV which was occupied by two victims. The man then sped away going west out Highway 138W.

The man turned himself in for the crime on Tuesday night. He was charged with failure to perform the duties of a driver when there is property damaged and for reckless driving. The man was detained on $12,500 bail.
