ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN ON FIRST-DEGREE THEFT CHARGE

Roseburg Police jailed a man on the charge of third-degree theft following an incident on Wednesday.

An RPD report said a 1:20 p.m. officers responded to a medical office in the 300 block of Northwest Medical Loop after an employee said a man had stolen a pair of sunglasses. Officers located a 37-year-old in the area who fit the suspect’s description and detained him. The suspect admitted to the theft and was taken back to the business.

He was positively identified as the suspect by a witness. During the contact, the witness stated that the man had been in the office about a month prior and had stolen two other pairs of sunglasses, one of which he was currently wearing. The total value of the three pairs of sunglasses was $1,035.

The man was detained without bail and was released Thursday morning.
