A transient was jailed for a reported escape incident early Friday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said shortly before 12:30 a.m. a 46-year-old was called in after a disturbance ensued with a family member in the 800 block of Southeast Jackson Street in Roseburg.

Officers arrived on the scene and began walking towards the apartment. As a deputy turned onto Southeast Main Street, he noticed the suspect walking from the south side of the residence. As he parked his patrol vehicle, the suspect, identified as Jackie Willis, took off on foot. Willis was warned several times to stop and that he was under arrest. The suspect ended up running right into a Roseburg Police Department officer, who began to take Willis into custody.

As law enforcement attempted to arrest the man, he reportedly continued to resist and not obey instructions. A taser was deployed and Willis did comply afterwords. He was medically cleared at CHI Mercy Medical Center prior to being taken to jail.

Willis was charged with third-degree escape, resisting arrest and for several warrants. He was detained on $5,000 bail.
