Camas Valley Rural Fire District recently received a $6,200 grant from Weyerhaeuser.
A company release said the funding will allow the volunteer fire department to replace its aging, heavy gas-powered ventilation fan with a modern battery-powered unit, improving firefighter safety and efficiency.
The grant is part of the company’s commitment to support its operating communities and enhance local wildfire response in Oregon. This upgrade will lower the number of staff needed to move the fan as well as reduce injury risks, as the current fan requires two firefighters to lift into place.
The grant was awarded at the fire station in Camas Valley on March 6th. It is from Weyerhaeuser’s 2024 grant cycle. Submissions for 2025 are now open until September 30th. Oregon nonprofit organizations are encouraged to apply online: Giving Fund | Weyerhaeuser
