COUNTY FLOODING EVENT UPDATE

March 17, 2025 4:10 a.m.

It was a day that will be remembered for years in Douglas County.

Sunday brought flooding, mudslides, road closures, people trapped, evacuations and more.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said the county experienced extensive flooding affecting various areas.

Undersheriff Brad O’Dell said as water levels fluctuate, residents are urged to use heightened caution. O’Dell said certain areas may still experience high water levels for some time. Motorists are urged to exercise extreme caution and prioritize safety while driving.

Residents who feel it is unsafe to remain in their homes should not wait for a notice to evacuate and should relocate to shelter with family or friends outside of the affected area.

Any resident experiencing a need for assistance is asked to contact Douglas County Emergency Communications at 440-4471.

O’Dell said Sheriff John Hanlin and the Douglas County Commissioners will continue to provide leadership during the emergency response and subsequent recovery working hand in hand with municipal and community partners.
