A Washington State man was jailed following a pursuit incident on Thursday night.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 10:30 p.m. a mini-van passed a deputy on Interstate Five southbound near the Scotts Valley/Elkhead exit going 92 miles-per-hour in a 65-mile-per hour zone. The deputy began to overtake the vehicle when it took off. The deputy paced the pickup near the Yoncalla/Drain exit at 120 miles per hour. The vehicle was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic.
The pickup eluded the deputy at the Rice Valley interchange where it quickly took the exit. The vehicle headed off on a Bureau of Land Management Road where an Oregon State Police trooper picked it up, heading back towards the freeway. Units pursued the vehicle until it crashed in the 2000 block of Rice Valley South Road.
A track was started and K9 Eros led law enforcement to the driver. 33-year-old Ezekial Dolcide was taken into custody. Miscellaneous narcotics pills and about 5.9 grams of methamphetamine were reportedly found in the minivan.
Dolcide was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, reckless driving, possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to perform the duties of a driver with property damage, unlawful possession of meth and unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. He was detained without bail.
