ROSEBURG MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING A PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER

A Roseburg man was charged with assaulting a public safety officer on Saturday night.

An Oregon State Police report said at 6:55 p.m. 36-year-old Tyler Moug was stopped for speeding and failure to drive within a lane on Interstate 5 northbound near Metz Hill. Moug allegedly showed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. After being taken to jail, Moug reportedly headbutted a jail deputy causing bruising and swelling.

He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
