Oregon State Police charged a man in an alleged reckless endangering incident on Sunday evening.

Information from OSP said at approximately 6:10 p.m. a large pickup was reported as following too closely and speeding on Interstate 5 northbound. The vehicle was clocked at over 100 miles per hour and was observed following too closely. The driver fled from a traffic stop near the Winston exit after indicators of impairment were observed.

The pickup took the Winston exit and the driver narrowly missed another vehicle with 4 occupants while allegedly continuing to drive recklessly. It eventually got away and was not able to be located.

The report said the driver was identified as 41-year-old Philip Hamilton. He was arrested early Monday morning after being found in the Sutherlin area by Sutherlin Police and OSP.

Hamilton was charged with 2 counts attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, 6 counts of recklessly endangering another person, and 2 counts of reckless driving. Hamilton was detained without bail.
