A California man was jailed on multiple drug charges by the Oregon State Police on Wednesday evening.
An OSP report said at 6:15 p.m. troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Interstate Five northbound between the Oregon 38 interchange and the Scotts Valley, Elkhead exit. During the stop, troopers made observations that led them to believe the operator possessed illegal items that were in the vehicle. A consent search was granted and troopers allegedly located approximately 2.4 pounds of suspected fentanyl and a package containing a bulk amount of United States currency.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, 51-year-old Sebastian Melendrez-Ramirez of Oakland, California was charged with unlawful manufacture and delivery of a Schedule II controlled substance, unlawful possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
Melendrez-Rameriz was detained without bail. He was released on Friday.
